I’m up north on a mini getaway looking for rest and relaxation. There has to be something said about sleeping in complete darkness. No blinking lights from the outside world, no neon green lights from the alarm clock on your bedside table reminding you that you need to get up in exactly 2 hours and 15 min, no flashing light from your smartphone beckoning you to see what the notification is about, no spending time on facebook, pintrest, instagram or twitter. It’s just you and nature. I slept like a baby. I enjoyed the deepest sleep I have had in years and I woke up with a smile on my face. I am reminded of a poem my son wrote in 4th grade, a haiku that has stayed with me still even though it is 4 years later:
Deep in the mountains
There is a wind in the air
Soon, there is silence
I feel peaceful, calm and happy…

I am a fun-loving mama bear of 4 amazing kidlets and I am on a mission to find something that makes me happy or brings me joy every day and to share that with you!
Incidentally, the title of the blog came from my oldest daughter when she was almost 3. It had been many sleepless nights and 3 out of 4 in diapers was taking its toll. She cradled my face in her little hands and asked: “Mamma, are you happy and laughing?”. Needless to say, that expression has stuck and we still use it today, over 14 years later.
On a personal note, I love to write, paint and scrapbook…I love being creative. It is the one place where I can journey into myself and find peace in my world. I come back rejuvenated.
Incidentally, Irene is of Greek origin meaning peace…funny, I am most happy when I have peace in my heart and all around me. Thanks for stopping by…
